Op Sceptre - tackling knife crime |
||
|
Resident As part of the national Operation Sceptre, officers from the Meole Safer Neighbourhood Team visited retail premises in Meole Brace today. The aim of the visit was to provide preventative advice, promote responsible retail practices, and ensure that knives are being sold legally and safely.
Our team engaged with shop staff to reinforce the importance of: 🔹 Challenging anyone who appears under 25 when purchasing knives 🔹 Requesting valid ID where necessary 🔹 Promoting safe storage and responsible sales
In the photo, you’ll see two of our officers speaking with store security staff. As with all retail sales of age-restricted items, retailers should challenge anyone who looks under 25, regardless of their role or appearance.
🗡️ Every knife surrendered is a life potentially saved. Working together, we can reduce knife crime and keep our communities safe. If you have unwanted knives at home, please use your local surrender bin or contact us for advice | ||
